KB Dance & Performing Arts, Inc. provides quality instruction in various styles of Dance (Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, and Pointe) in a challenging but safe and nurturing environment for children and adults, regardless of socioeconomic background and abilities. We offer classes for children ages 3 and up and Adult classes, too. We’ll be expanding to include Theater Arts soon!  We’re also home to the KB Dance Company which performs in our Holiday Show, Competitions, all Spring Recitals as well as Community programs.

Our Fall Classes (Beginning the Week of September 9)

Tiny Dancers for Ages 3-5

Dates & Times: Tuesdays, 5:15-6:00pm
Location: Harper College Dance Studio, Palatine
Instructor: Miss Katherine

This class will focus on the rhythm and fun of drumming with Tap in combination with the energy and freedom of Jazz. Attire will include leotard, tights, optional dance shorts or ballet skirt, tap shoes, and jazz shoes.

Ballet/Creative Movement for Ages 5-8

Dates & Times: Mondays, 4:30-5:15pm
Location: Co-Optim Dance Studio, Deer Park
Instructor: Miss Becky

Young Dancers will explore the foundation of dance and their imaginations through both guided and freeform exercises using the basics of Ballet. Attire will include leotard, tights, optional ballet skirt, and pink leather ballet shoes.

Combo Ballet, Jazz, Tap for Ages 9-14

Dates & Times: Mondays, 5:15-6:15pm
Location: Co-Optim Dance Studio, Deer Park
Instructor: Miss Becky

Open to any student wishing to develop a well-rounded dance repertoire. Dancers will learn technique and artistry in Ballet, Jazz, and Tap. Ballet shoes, jazz shoes, and tap shoes are required. Attire includes leotard, tights, dance shorts, pants, or skirt with hair pulled back off the face.

Ballet Tech/Pointe Prep for Ages 11-18

Dates & Times: Thursdays, 5:00-6:00pm
Location: Dancewerks Studio, Barrington
Instructor: Miss Gwen

Focus on ballet technique, strengthening, and flexibility to enhance one’s dance skills and in preparation for possible future work en pointe. Some Ballet experience required. Attire includes leotard, tights, optional dance skirt or shorts, and ballet shoes.

Jazz for Ages 11-15

Dates & Times: Wednesdays, 6:45-7:45pm
Location: Co-Optim Dance Studio, Deer Park
Instructor: Miss Evie

Dancers will have fun learning the rhythms, stylized movements, and choreography for this exciting form of dance set to upbeat music. Attire includes leotard, tights, optional dance shorts and jazz shoes.

Adult Advanced Tap for Ages 18+

Dates & Times: Tuesdays, 6:00-7:00pm
Location: Harper College Dance Studio, Palatine
Instructor: Miss Katherine

Tap is a fun style of dance that anyone can learn, regardless of dance experience. Adult Advanced Tap is for more experienced tappers to continue building skills, strength, and coordination while focusing on sequencing and performance style. Attire includes workout clothes and tap shoes.

Adult Contemporary for Ages 18+

Dates & Times: Thursdays, 7:00-8:00pm
Location: Dancewerks Studio, Barrington
Instructor: Miss Gwen

Fusing dance styles such as Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, and Modern, this class will explore the versatility of movement through technique, floor work, and improvisation. Attire includes comfortable clothing and socks or bare feet (ballet or jazz shoes are welcome).

Adult Dance Fitness for Ages 18+

Dates & Times: Mondays, 6:15-7:00pm
Location: Co-Optim Dance Studio, Deer Park
Instructor: Miss Becky

This class focuses on building strength, flexibility, balance, and cardiovascular endurance through dance-based skills and combinations set to music spanning the decades. We’ll make this workout feel like a Dance Party! (No Dance experience necessary!) Attire includes loose-fitting clothing and clean gym shoes.

Audition for the KB Dance Company

KB Dance Company (KBDC) provides high-quality dance training in a challenging, yet fun and nurturing environment. In addition to improving coordination, developing muscular awareness, and exploring the freedom of artistic expression, our students learn lifelong skills through the discipline of dance. Dancers are expected to hone skills and learn choreography while attending all scheduled classes. KBDC performs in our annual Holiday Show, Competition, all Spring Recitals and community shows and outreach.
