Expectations & Commitments
The KB Dance Company (KBDC) provides high-quality, intensive dance training in a challenging, yet safe and nurturing environment. In addition to improving coordination, developing muscular awareness, and exploring the freedom of artistic expression, our students learn lifelong skills through the discipline of dance.
Placement
Many factors are considered when placing KBDC dancers and Petite Performers. Technical ability, performance skill, attitude, behavior, effort, consistency, application of corrections, confidence, maturity, and age all influence the decision. Dancers are placed in groups that will learn and progress best together both in class and during performances.
Behavior
KBDC members are expected to treat teachers, dance teammates, parents, staff, and community members with courtesy and respect. Company dancers are expected to possess the self-discipline and maturity to conduct themselves in a positive and supportive manner. Disrespect and/or bullying of staff or students will not be tolerated and may result in dismissal. All Dance Company members should have an enjoyable and educational dance experience!
Attendance & Participation Commitment
We understand that our Company dancers are multi-talented and have many additional obligations, which is why we try to work with outside schedules as best as possible. However, KBDC members are held to a higher level of commitment than that for regular dance classes. They are expected to attend all classes and mandatory rehearsals and events such as Holiday Show All Cast Rehearsal, Dress Rehearsals, Holiday show performances, Competitions and Conventions, classes leading up to special events, and Recital Week, including all performances. Excused absences may be obtained for contagious illness or injury with a doctor’s note, graded school activities, specific religious obligations, a death in the family, or graduation activities. Consideration of this commitment before auditions is appreciated. *Please note that KBDC members will be required to take at least one KBDC Technique Class during the Summer dance session.
In order to produce our annual Holiday Show and Spring Recitals, we ask our KBDC Dance Families to volunteer time to help with both events. Donations of time and raffle items go straight to helping the KB Dance and Performing Arts programs.
Financial Commitment
In addition to class tuition, KBDC fees will include a class uniform, warm-up jacket, a holiday show costume, multiple recital costumes, tights, shoes, competition and convention fees, and donations for raffle baskets.
Upon placement in the KB Dance and Performing Arts Dance Company, a KBDC Agreement, Calendar of Events, and full Policies and Procedures Handbook will be made available. If you have questions or would like more information before auditions, please contact us. Thank you!
